Mother’s Day Flowers Sunday March 26th 2017

Mother’s day falls on the 26th of March this year. The date of Mother’s Day being decided by when Easter Sunday falls which in turn is always on the first Sunday after the first full Moon after the 21st of March.

We will be delivering Mother’s Day flowers all weekend, including Sunday for a small, additional charge. All of our designs will be available for local delivery and we’ve also added the following gorgeous new range of Mother’s Day flowers.

To avoid disappointment we recommend ordering early as we are always very busy. You can order on-line, visit the shop or call us and we will be happy to take your order. Don’t forget, as members of Interflora we can also arrange delivery of your flowers throughout the UK and Ireland.

View our Mother’s Day range here. Our Spring Range will also be available.

Mother’s Day, March 15th 2015

With less than a month to go until Mother’s Day we thought we’d give a sneak preview of some of the beautiful flower designs we will be delivering to Dunstable and the surrounding villages over the Mother’s Day weekend.

A wide selection of hand tied bouquets, traditional arrangements and plants designed to suit every budget and to get your message across loud and clear.

The best mums in the world deserve the best flowers in the world and these designs will be available to order from 2nd March.

There will be a small additional delivery fee for Sunday delivery.

Hot Tarmac, Mother’s Day & A Drop Of Vino

Phew, another Mother’s Day done and dusted. We were really busy this year and almost doubled the amount of flower deliveries we completed in comparison to last year. Everyone worked really hard and after a couple of late nights, some take away meals delivered to the shop and a drop of celebratory wine we delivered all our orders in a timely fashion.

No rest for the wicked of course and straight back in to work Monday to find Chiltern Road being resurfaced with limited access for staff and customers to the shop. Fortunately the contractors have been making great progress and as I write this on Tuesday 1st April they have already completed the resurfacing from the West Street end to the Junction with Worthington Road and West Parade so customers can again drive down and park outside the shop.

One of the workmen has even been in to buy some flowers and we’ve been very grateful to our loyal customers who did have to park some way away and walk up to the shop.  We’d imagined the shop would be very quiet but not so!

Finally a quick gallery of some of the flowers that have gone out this week, plus some of the road works in progress.

Mother’s Day – 30th March 2014

Mothering Sunday falls on the 30th of March this year.  In many countries Mother’s Day falls on the same day every year, for example in America it is always on the second Sunday in May.  In the UK however, and somewhat confusingly, the date changes every year.

This is because in the UK we celebrate Mother’s Day on the fourth Sunday of Lent.  Lent is a Christian Festival that always begins on Ash Wednesday which itself is always six and a half weeks before Easter Sunday.  However the date of Easter Sunday can vary considerably and can fall on any date from 22nd of March to the 25th of April.

Why then does Easter Sunday move around?  The date of Easter is determined by the lunar calendar.  Easter Sunday is always on the first Sunday after the first full Moon after the 21st of March.  So next time you miss Mother’s Day you can blame the moon!
